My Story
As long as I can remember sound and music have played a prominent role in my life.
At the age of ten me and a bunch of school mates, with home made instruments, were performing shows at our school, miming to records of 70's glam rockers 'The Sweet'...and by the age of sixteen I was singing in an original, local, glam, goth, punk band called Gargoyles Kiss. Since then I've continued to create and play music and song within solo projects, bands and collaborations.
In my twenties I introduced music into my work with adults with learning disabilities and a couple of years later I started a music and social science degree at Canterbury Christ Church University. It was there that my interest in music therapy took off, attending music therapy workshops and seminars as part of my degree. During this time I also achieved grade 5 flute with ABRSM and have taught private flute lessons.
In 2007 I set up myself up as a small business offering individual and group music sessions, mostly working with adults with learning disabilities. Since then I have worked with, and for a number of organisations supporting a variety of people with different vulnerabilities, needs and abilities such as South Kent Mind, Headway, United Response, Canterbury Oast Trust...
From 2016 I began collaborating with a few yoga teachers I know to deliver Soundbath Savasana for their workshops and retreats.
In 2022 I qualified as a reflexologist and added this to my offering. I am a member of the Association of Reflexology. Last year I started regular voluntary sessions at Pilgrims Hospice in Ashford and have been blown away by the experience. I feel massively privileged to be a part of that time in the patients and families lives and to bring a little comfort.
In 2024 I studied with the College of Sound Healing to complete a course in Sound Healing Using the Voice. I discovered a whole new way to work and play with my voice and a variety of instruments.
My holistic therapy journey continues...there's always more to explore and discover.
